Reading: A good old hobby

"Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination and the journey. Books are home."
How can I tell you the pleasure  I get when I indulge into a book?
The great classics, the thrilling fictions, every book makes you live a new life! All thoughts and problems of the present are forgotten, all considerations of the time are done away with!
We can know the thoughts and feelings of the author, we can see the sun shining from the writer's eyes and be with him in the daring expeditions that he makes. Books are a storehouse of knowledge which have been passed on by by generations of people. I myself have been fortunate to read a wide array of books from Charles Dickens, Enid Blyton, Arthur Conan Doyle,Herman Melville to the recent Dan Brown, John Grisham, Jeffrey Archer and so on.

Nothing is more satisfying than the feel of a good book in my hands. Really, an hour of two of reading in solitude can help us think clearer and new streams and avenues open up for problems that have previously been haunting us. Reading helps us to increase our vocabulary and makes us stand out in a crowd. You can always strike a conversation, "Hey did you read that new book by that author?" and mingle in a crowd. Reading quenches the thirst of the inquisitive mind.
Every book has a life of its own. After reading a book I feel as if I myself was the protagonist of the story. It helps to infuse a spark in our lives. The ultimate idea of peace in my mind is, sitting under a tree on a sunny morning and reading a good classic cover to cover with no exams to catch up with, no messages and notification on my phone, no technology at all.
Do away with mindless gaming and socialising on your smartphones! Forget Snapchat, Insta, Fb and all such sites! Adopt reading as a hobby and see the change.
Dedicated to all the voracious readers who read at every single opportunity in their busy lives.
